These are just a few ways to improve Parent/Provider Communication:
Post a short list of each day's activities
for parents to read with their child, when they arrive
in the morning.
Send home our parent handout, Parents
and Kids Together. If you send it home at the same
time each month, parents will look forward to receiving
it. Parents like the suggestions of books to read to their
children at bedtimes and enjoy our recipes, since so much
family time at home is spent in the kitchen. Parents especially
appreciate the ideas that help make the time they spend
together as rich as possible. Be sure to jot notes to
parents on the handouts about the things their child really
enjoyed that month.
Make one-sided copies of Parents
& Kids Together each month and use the blank sides
to create your own newsletter with information about your
program's special events and specific information about
each child.
Extra copies of Parents & Kids Together
with the name, address, and telephone number of your program
can serve as an "ad", placed on the resource table at
your local library, or posted wherever parents of young
children gather.
Keep in touch when your program is on
vacation in the summer or over holidays by sending Parents
and Kids Together in the mail.
Make it available in SPANISH. Parents
& Kids is now available in Spanish on our
Web site
