How to Use EverydayTLC Online

Using Everyday TLC Online is easy and fun, but it is a little different from other publications.
(You may wish to save this guide for future reference.)

At least 10 days before the beginning of the month, you will receive an e-mail that tells you how to access that month’s EverydayTLC Online from this Web site. Click on the link in your e-mail and sign in the box on the upper righthand corner of your screen using your special username and password.

This will take you to the entire issue including 4 or 5 weekly newsletters, the Parent Handout, and Learn-At-Home Training (eight times per year).

When you receive your monthly packet:

— Set aside
a little time for a brief planning session for yourself and any helpers you might have. (Nap time works well.)

Browse through the four or five weekly newsletters. You may wish to download and print them out at this time or do one a week

Download and print out at least one copy of the Parent Handout, Parents and Kids Together. Set it aside until your usual time to send home parent information. Then make copies on your printer or a copy machine. You could also e-mail the Parent Handout to families.

If you wish, download, print out and read over the Learn-at-Home Training Course. Put aside until the end of the month. (You’ll receive one eight times during the year.) You may wish to read the brief professional article even if you are not taking the course.

Download and print out the Planning Calendar – broken down into the four or five weeks of the month. The left side names five specific activity times that you might consider planning for:

  • Circletime is usually held twice a day, once in the morning to welcome children, discuss the day’s events and to read a story or sing a song: then it is held at the end of the day to wind down, read stories, and talk about what was discovered during the day.
  • Free Choice/Specials are everyday games and activities that you change regularly. You might try to rotate your selection of toys every two weeks. A special activity might be related to your weekly theme such as a seasonal puzzle or a cooking activity.
  • Learning Centers relate to the special areas where children can do activities related to Math, Science, Language and so on.
  • Creative Art Activity is any activity you choose to do as a group that requires pre-planning.
After-schoolers is a place to plan something special for your school-age children. This can be theme-related or just for relaxation after homework.
  • Prep Work gives you a place to make notes about any special preparations you need to make before presenting the activities.

Use the Planning Calendar to plan out your month. Use activities from this month’s EverydayTLC Online and other resources.
