Move Like a Turkey

Take a walk and collect leaves. Make a turkey craft that really moves!
You'll need:
• fall leaves (or green leaves painted with fall colors of red, yellow, orange and brown) • paper plates • glue • markers • hole punch • string or yarn
What to do:
1. Take a fall walk with the children in yur care.
2. Collect about a dozen of the prettiest leaves you can find. Try to find leaves of different colors and shapes, or paint leaves if you are in any area where the leaves do not change colors.
3. Back home, help your children glue the leaves to the edge of the paper plate, so they resemble turkey feathers.
4. Encourage them to use markers to draw the head and facial features on the turkey.
5. Punch two holes in the turkey plate. Thread the string through the holes and tie ends around your child’s waist.
6. Turn on some snappy songs and invite your children to strut and dance a turkey dance.
7. Invite them to sing the lyrics turkey-style by singing “Gobble-gobble!” to the music’s tune.
